“Ten thousand fists in the beard!”
If you wonder what I mean with the quote above, just keep reading and it will all be clarified!
Brooklyn Soap Company is a pretty new brand for me, I first heard about them in the last quarter of 2014, but they’ve been around since 2012. And thanks to Beardshop.se I got the try their Beard Wash and Beard Oil the last few weeks. I’m a part of Beardshops reviewing site called “Testpiloterna”, it’s in Swedish and it’s filled with male grooming product reviews. Testpiloterna is the Swedish word for Test Pilots. You can find this review in Swedish as well, written by me, for Testpiloterna – HERE!
Anyway, let’s get going with this review.
Brooklyn Soap Company Beard Wash, what sorcery is this?
If you did not know, I’m a metal head, I love every kind of metal music and listen to it everyday. Then again, who doesn’t love music! One great song is Disturbed’s “Ten Thousand Fists“, I love it. I came to think about that song when using this Beard Wash, why? Well, after i applied the Beard Wash something happened, it started to lather so much, so much is kind of felt like someone was massaging my beard, it was a weird feeling. It felt so good, I was amazed, I smiled and laughed at the feeling. Then the song from Disturbed came to my mind, and I thought, why haven’t anyone made a cover yet, called “Ten Thousand Fists in the Beard”…
Other then that, it smells amazing of peppermint and rosemary. It’s refreshing and crisp enough to be a year round product, specially in the summer. But also warm and spicy enough to be a Christmas product. The lathering is freaking amazing, the fact that it lathers so much it feels like someone else is massaging your beard is pretty powerful.
The only downside with the Beard Wash for me is that it make my beard feel very dry after washing it out. But then again, you are supposed to use a moisturizing beard oil after your shower anyway. The consistency of the Beard Wash is light, see through and loose, it’s easy to apply and easy to wash out. It smells great, fresh, crisp and very uplifting. I gladly re-apply it one extra time just because of the peppermint scent. Which also have a cooling effect on your skin, it feels great.
Ingredients are: Aqua, Sodium Coco Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Coco Glucoside, Cocamidopropyl Betain, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Sodium PCA, Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil, Mentha Piperita Oil, Mentha Spicata Leaf Oil, Polyglyceryl-2 Laurate, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid, Limonene, Linalool.
Brooklyn Soap Company Classic Beard Oil, hmmm!
I had very high hopes for this one after using the Beard Wash, I actually was hoping that the two products would have a scent the bound them together a little bit. But the beard oil smells completely different from the Beard Wash. It smells good, don’t get me wrong, but I was hoping that the oil would also have this peppermint scent, remembering me of the shower I had just minutes ago. I actually got a little bit disappointed. A dark, woodsy smell, great in it’s own way, good enough on it’s own, but not good enough when combining with the beard wash.
The consistency of the oil is a little bit loose as well, I would’ve wanted it to be a little bit thicker. This sucks, I wish I had tried to oil on it’s own, now I can’t shake the connection between the two. The oil smells good, as I said, but together with the beard wash, it doesn’t make a connection. I wish it did tho!
Ingredients in the oil are: Sesamum Indicum Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Argania Spinosa Oil, Tocopherol, Lavandula Angustifolia, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosmary) Leaf Oil, Pinus Cembra, Linalool, Geraniol, Limonene, Cinnamal, Citronnellol, Coumarin.
Starting with the beard wash… Amazing! It’s not even funny, you need to get this, it’s fantastic and a great experience. Get it, enough said!
Brooklyn Soap Company, if you read this, please make a beard oil that resembles the beard wash, scent wise, they will go great together! And maybe a little bit thicker if possible. Other then that, the Classic Beard Oil is good, does what it’s supposed to do, make your beard healthy and shiny!
