Ever since I was a little kid I’ve had this fascination with beards. I can’t recall any special moment that triggered that fascination or the fact that I always wanted to have one. I’m beginning to think it might have been after seeing movies featuring bearded people. Like Erik the Viking!
Somehow during my school years that fascination faded, I never really though of getting a beard (not that I could when i was 15 anyway), or growing one in the future. It wasn’t until around my 20th birthday I saw some growth that resembled more than just the little strains of hair here and there. I think I started growing, not by choice, but because I couldn’t afford a razor. I remember borrowing razors from friends (not used ones) and trimming down and shaving clean lines.
Anyway, the beard became a part of me and I didn’t think much of it over the years, i cut it, trimmed it etc. But it wasn’t until that faithful day, February 15th 2012, I realized how much it meant to me. I don’t know what got in to me, but i decided to have a clean shave. This is after 10 years with some form of hair on my chin… I looked in the mirror, felt terrible, who was that person looking back at me. It was horrible! What have I done!
After that day i said to myself, never have another clean shave.
Mr Bear Family’s Beard Brew came to my knowledge during that spring due to me looking for ways to improve my beard growth, making it stronger, longer and more lush. So in the fall of 2012 I bought my first bottle. My first thought was something like “Why haven’t I used this before”. Not only did it make my beard smell citrusy and nice. The texture changed, the feel of the beard went to different proportions.
Little did I know that this was the beginning of somewhat of an addiction. Since then I have oiled my beard almost every morning for a year. I used up 4 bottles, 3 citrus and 1 Woodland. Brushing and oiling have become a daily routine more then a thing I have to do in the morning.
I have to admit that I use a little bit more then advised, but it’s all good. And it’s not just the smell of freshness I feel myself, it’s also the close encounters with other people that makes a difference. For example, when giving someone a hug and they ask what cologne I’m wearing (when I’m not) I just tell them to smell my beard. Most people get pleasantly surprised and tell me my beard smell nice.
Being a pretty big bearded man as myself I tend to get a lot of stares and questions from people out on the town. Some people even want to touch my beard, which I let them of course. Same as the smell, people tend to get surprised about the softness and pleasant structure of my beard. I have tried other brands of beard oils, but they haven’t really hit the spot for me. I feel a connection to Mr Bear Family’s Beard Brew due to the fact that it has been a part of my life since my little mishap of shaving my beard.
I’ll proudly and steadily recommend Mr Bear Family’s Beard Brew to anyone who asks and I will continue to use it as long as I’m bearded….(forever)
